Bath Time & Other Firsts

Augie's 1st Bath

Today, G and I gave Augie his first bath at home.  Up until this point, sponge bathing has been sufficient.  Gus did great!  He didn't mind the water at all.  We don't have a baby tub so we just used the kitchen sink.  (I think that the sink will work out better when Gus is bigger.)  I was quite pleased that he seemed to like the water!

14 February was a big day for Augie.  Not only was it his first holiday--he got his 1st Valentine from Great Aunt Viki & David--he also had his first doctor appointment for an ailment.  The previous day, I noticed that his right eye looked a bit swollen and sore. By that night, it was starting to get gooey.  In the morning, it was swollen shut and even more gooey.  G called the doctor and we got an emergency visit.  Turns out, Gus has a blocked tear duct that caused an infection.  With instructions to massage the duct several times a day and a prescription for eye ointment (so fun to get into his tiny baby eye) we were set.  Augie is all fixed up now; his eye cleared up in a day.
